Madrasah in Just 5 Minutes

In the light of the Qur'aan and Ahadeeth

(1) Islaamic History
His name was Suhayb bin Sinaan and he was of Arab origin. However, he was still a child when the Roman army plundered his village and took him captive together with all the young boys of the village. However, he managed to escape from Rome when he grew up and settled in Makkah. It is because he was in Rome that he was called Rumi. He engaged in trade in Makkah and Allaah has blessed him with plenty of wealth.  He had returned from a trade journey one day when he heard about the message of Islaam that Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  was giving to the people. After making enquiries, he went to meet Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  at the house of Hadhrat Arqam (RA), where he accepted Islaam together with Hadhrat Ammaar (RA). When he was leaving to migrate to Madinah and the Mushrikeen tried to stop him, he traded his freedom for all his wealth in Makkah. Praising this act of this, Allaah revealed the verse, “From mankind is hewho would sell himselfseeking Allaah’s pleasure”. He passed away at the age of 73 in the year 38 A.H. in Madinah and is buried there.
(2) Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ’s Miracle

Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (RA) once came to Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  with some dates and asked, “O Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ! Pray that Allaah blesses these dates.” Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  took them, made du’aa for blessings and then said, “Place these in a bag, eat from it when you need to, but never allow the bag to get empty.” Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (RA) says that he always kept the bag by his side and for a long period of time he ate from it, spent on others and even fed his family and visitors. However, the bag suddenly went missing on the day that Hadhrat Uthmaan (RA) was martyred.

[Tirmidhi 3839]

(3) A Fardh

Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  said, “I swear by the Being Who controls my life that you people must enjoin good and forbid evil, otherwise Allaah will punish you along with the sinners and then you will make du’aa and it will not be accepted.”

[Tirmidhi 2169, from Hadhrat Hudhayfah (RA)]

It is Fardh (obligatory) for every member of the Ummah to enjoin good and to forbid from evil according to their capabilities.

(4) A Du’aa from the Qur'aan and Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)

Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  said that if after performing wudhu properly, a person recites the following du’aa, all eight gates of Jannah will thrown open for him:

PUT ARABIC

[Tirmidhi 55, from Hadhrat Umar (RA)]

(5) An Important Act and its Virtue

Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  said, “When a person visits the grave of his parents or the grave of any one of them on a Friday, he will be forgiven and recorded as one who was obedient to his parents.”

[Tabraani in his Kabeer 193, from Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (RA)]

(6) A Sin

Allaah says in the Qur'aan, “Verily those who believe, then disbelieve, then believe, then disbelieve and thereafter increase in disbelief, it is not for Allaah to forgive them, nor to guide them to the (straight) path”.

[Surah Nisaa, verse 137]

(7) This World

Allaah says in the Qur'aan, “So ignore him who turns away from Our advice and who desires only the life of this world. This (their objectives in this world) is the extent of their knowledge (They are concerned only about this world and have no concern for the Aakhirah). (It is therefore futile to persistently preach to them for) Verily your Rabb knows best about the person who deviated from His path and He knows best about him who is rightly guided (and He shall punish or reward them accordingly)”.

[Surah Najm, verses 29-30]

(8) The Aakhirah

Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  said, “The distance across my pond is a month’s journey. The water is whiter than milk, its fragrance better than musk and its cups more sparkling than the stars. Whoever drinks from there shall never again be thirsty.”

[Bukhaari 6579, from Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Amr (RA)]

(9) Cures from the Qur'aan and Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)

Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  was once with Hadhrat Ali (RA) at Hadhrat Ummu Mundhir رضي الله عنهما’s house when they were served some dates. When he had some, Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  said to Hadhrat Ali (RA), “Enough now Ali! You are still weak (recovering from your illness).”When Hadhrat Ummu Mundhir رضي الله عنهما then served them a dish with beetroot with barley, Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  said to Hadhrat Ali (RA), “O Ali! Eat this because it is good for you.”

[Abu Dawood 3856]

Beetroot gives strength and is effective to combat weakness.

(10) Advice from Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)

Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  said, “Repeat Laa Ilaaha Illallaah to the person on his deathbed.”

[Muslim 2123, from Hadhrat Abu Sa'eed Khudri (RA)]

When a person is on his deathbed, the people around him should recite the Kalimah so that he is reminded to do the same.
