Madrasah in Just 5 Minutes

In the light of the Qur'aan and Ahadeeth

(1) Islaamic History
His name was Sakhar and he was born 50 years before Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  announced his Nabuwaat (Prophethood). He was therefore 10 years elder than Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) . Before accepting Islaam, he was an ardent enemy of Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  and opposed the Muslims in several battles. In fact, he led the Mushrikeen army during the Battle of Uhud. However, his daughter Hadhrat Ummu Habeebah رضي الله عنهما accepted Islaam early and even migrated to Abyssinia with her husband, who happened to pass away there. Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  appointed the king Najaashi as his representative and Najaashi therefore married her to Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) . In this manner, Hadhrat Abu Sufyaan (RA) became Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ’s father-in-law. Hadhrat Abu Sufyaan (RA) accepted Islaam the night before Makkah was conquered and after becoming a Muslim, he developed great love for Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  and applied himself sincerely for the cause of Deen. In fact, he lost an eye in the Battle of Hunayn that was fought almost immediately after the conquest of Makkah. He was at the forefront during the Battle of Yarmook against the Romans, where he lost his second eye as well. He eventually passed away during the reign of Hadhrat Uthmaan (RA) in the year 33 A.H. He was 93 years of age at the time.
(2) Allaah’s Power
Allaah has decorated this world with a multitude of colours. Amongst these objects of striking colour is the butterfly, which spends its days fluttering about from flower to flower in gardens and fields, from where it fills its belly sucking nectar. Butterflies have wings that appear to be canvasses where expert artists display their talents. The amazing thing about it is that both wings have the exact patterns. It is only by the power of Allaah that such beauty can be displayed in such a small insect.
(3) A Fardh

Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  stated that no person can be a Mu'min without believing in the following four factors: (1) that there is none worthy of worship but Allaah (2) that Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  is the Rasul (Messenger) of Allaah (3) that people will be brought back to life after death and (4) that everything has been predestined (Taqdeer)

[Tirmidhi 2145, from Hadhrat Ali (RA)]

(4) A Sunnah

Hadhrat Jundub (RA) reports that it was the practice of Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) never to shake hands with the Sahabah y without first greeting with Salaam.

[Tabraani in his Kabeer 1700]

(5) An Important Act and its Virtue

Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  said, “Perform the Tahajjud salaah regularly because it was the practice of the righteous people before you, a means of getting closer to Allaah, a means of staying away from sin, expiation for sins and a means of expelling illnesses from the body.”

[Tirmidhi 3549, from Hadhrat Bilaal (RA)]

(6) A Sin

Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  said, “Guard against urine splashes because punishment in the grave is mostly because of this.”

[Daar Qutni 469, from Hadhrat Anas (RA)]

(7) This World

Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  said, “There had been a test for every Ummah and the test of my Ummah shall be wealth.”

[Tirmidhi 2336, from Hadhrat Ka’b bin Ayaadh (RA)]

(8) The Aakhirah

Allaah says in the Qur'aan, ““Undoubtedly, this is the greatest success. It is for (achieving) something like this (success) that those who wish to act should act.” Is this (the bounties of Jannah) better hospitality, or the tree of Zaqqoom? We have certainly made it (Zaqqoom) a test for the oppressors (the Kuffaar, who mocked Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  by saying that a tree cannot grow in the fire of Jahannam). It (Zaqqoom) is a tree that emerges from the depths of Jahannam. Its fruit resembles the heads of hideous snakes. People will certainly eat from it and (although it will taste horrible, they will) fill their bellies with it (because of their intense hunger). Thereafter (after eating from it) they will be given a mixture of boiling water with it (which will be so hot that it will tear their entrails to shreds)”.

[Surah Saaffaat, verses 60-67]

(9) Cures from the Qur'aan and Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)

Whenever someone in the household of Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  suffered from fever, Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  would tell them to eat barley Hareera, saying, “It strengthens the heart of the grieving person and washed the heart of a sick person just as any of you washes his face with water.”

[Ibn Maajah 3445]

Barley strengthens both the heart and the body. The barley Hareerah is made from roasted barley flour mixed with butter and sugar.

(10) Qur'aanic Advice

Allaah says in the Qur'aan, “O you who have Imaan, do not unjustly consume the wealth of each other (by stealing or by other unacceptable means), but (you may exchange wealth with each other) by way of trade (conducted) with your mutual consent”.

[Surah Nisaa, verse 29]
