In the light of the Qur'aan and Ahadeeth

(1) Islaamic History
His name was Uwaymi bin Maalik Khazraji and was amongst the wealthiest of the businessmen in Madinah. He accepted Islaam after the Battle of Badr after the insistent Da’wah of Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Rawaaha (RA). After Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Rawaaha (RA) had one day broken his idol, Hadhrat Abu Dardaa (RA) was prompted to think about the reality of the idol. Despite his anger over the incident, it finally dawned on him that the idols really are helpless and he thus accepted Islaam. He then turned completely away from this world and started to lead a life of complete abstinence. He applied himself to acquiring the knowledge of the Qur'aan and the regulations of the Shari'ah. In fact, he became so abstinent that when Hadhrat Umar (RA) appointed him to be the governor, he refused the post. When Hadhrat Umar (RA) insisted that he go, he agreed to go only to teach the people there. He then left to live in Damascus. When Hadhrat Umar (RA) sent gifts for him, he gave these away to the poor, to the students of Deen and those who visited him. He always discouraged people from the luxuries of this world. Hadhrat Uthmaan (RA) appointed him as a judge and it was during the Khilaafah of Hadhrat Uthmaan (RA) that Hadhrat Abu Dardaa (RA) passed away in the year 33 A.H.
(2) Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ’s Miracle

When revelation would descend upon Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) , he would fall into the state of semi consciousness. Revelation was once descending upon Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) while his head lay in the lap of Hadhrat Ali (RA). When the revelation had stopped, Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  asked Hadhrat Ali (RA) whether he had performed his Asr salaah. When Hadhrat Ali (RA) said that he had not performed the salaah yet, Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  made du’aa to Allaah to cause the sun to come up again. Hadhrat Asmaa رضي الله عنهما reports that she actually saw the sun rise up again after it had just set and remain in the sky until Hadhrat Ali (RA) had completed his salaah.

[Tabraani in his Kabeer, from Hadhrat Asmaa bint Umays رضي الله عنهما]

(3) A Fardh

Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  said, “Wudhu is the key to salaah, which starts with the Takbeer Tahreema and ends with the Salaam.”

[Tirmidhi 3, from Hadhrat Ali (RA)]

The Takbeer with which the salaah is started is called the Takbeer Tahreema, which is Fardh (obligatory) in salaah.

(4) A Du’aa from the Qur'aan and Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)

The following du’aa should be recited after the Fardh salaah:

PUT ARABIC

(5) An Important Act and its Virtue

Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  said that the person who recites Durood once will have Allaah shower ten mercies on him, ten of his sins will be forgiven and his rank in Jannah will elevated ten times.

[Nasa'ee 1298, from Hadhrat Anas (RA)]

(6) A Sin

Allaah says in the Qur'aan, “When We let people taste (Our) mercy after a difficulty has afflicted them, they suddenly have a plan (a plot) against Our Aayaat (they start to enjoy the bounties and reject and mock Our Aayaat). Say, “Allaah is swifter in planning (in taking you to task for what you do). Indeed Our messenger angels record whatever you plan (nothing goes unnoticed).””.

[Surah Yunus, verse 21]

(7) This World

Allaah says in the Qur'aan, “Whatever you have been given is merely an article of this worldly life (something to use temporarily). (On the other hand,) What (reward) is with Allaah (in exchange for your good deeds) is better (than everything of this world) and more lasting (eternal) for those who have Imaan”.

[Surah Shura, verse 36]

(8) The Aakhirah

A person once asked Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  whether the people of Jannah ever slept. “Sleep is the sister of death,” Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  replied, “and death will never affect the people of Jannah. They will therefore never sleep.”

[Bayhaqi 4559, from Hadhrat Jaabir (RA)]

(9) Cures from the Qur'aan and Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)

Hadhrat Asmaa bint Abu Bakr (RA) reports that when she developed a boil on her neck and it was reported to Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) , he said, “Open it up (surgically remove the pus). Do not leave it alone because if you do, it will eat away your flesh and suck up your blood.” (If left alone, it will eventually infect the flesh and blood).

[Mustadrak of Haakim 8250]

(10) Advice from Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)

Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)  said, “Never pray for the destruction of yourself, your children, your servants or your wealth. It should never be that your curse coincides with the moment when prayers are accepted, in which case your curse will also be accepted.”

[Abu Dawood 1532, from Hadhrat Jaabir (RA)]
